What Does The Bible Say?

The Holy Bible is a source of hope and inspiration for most Christians.  Some say the Bible is the inspired word of God, some believe it's just a book written by man.  No matter what you believe, the Bible is a good step-by-step manual for living a moral life.

Please "Bookmark" or "Add to Favorites" as you will want to use this site as your reference for reading, studying and understanding the Bible.

Basics of What Does The Bible Say?

It would be totally impossible to discuss the entire contents of the Holy Bible in this limited space, so our focus will be on some of the major issues facing all of us as we live our daily lives and do the best we can to raise our children to be the men and women we hope they will be.
We pray this zone will not only help all of us think about life and living, but more importantly, learn something.

"For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. ~James 1:23-34~

What Does The Bible Say About Love?

According to the Bible, What Is Love?

The Bible teaches us that love is the "glue" that holds all of us together and the Apostle Paul puts it all in perspective in 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7:
"Love is patient, love is kind, and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." (NAS)

In the book of 1John, we find another very descriptive example of love in chapter 4, verse 8: "The one who does not love does not know God, because God is love." (HCSB)

What Does The Bible Say About Marriage?

Biblical Concept of Marriage

In Biblical times, most marriages were pre-arranged and were performed without the traditional ceremony that we know today. The institution of marriage is recorded in the book of
Genesis 2: 23-24 - "And the man said: This one, at last, is bone of my bone, and flesh of my flesh; this one will be called woman, for she was taken from man. This is why a man leaves his father and mother and bonds with his wife, and they become one flesh." (HCSB)

The Biblical concept of marriage is a "oneness" between a man and a woman that pictures the oneness of Christ with His church.

Lessons For The Husband

Ephesians 5: 25-28 - "Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her,

What Does The Bible Say About Sin?

What Is Sin?

The Bible teaches us that sin is disobedience to God's will, either by commiting an act that is forbidden or failing to do what God requires.

We find in Mark 7:20-23 - "And he said, "What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person." (ESV)

The Bible teaches us in Romans 8:7-8 that sin is a serious evil and disrupts our relationship with God: "For the mind-set of the flesh is hostile to God because it does not submit itself to God's law, for it is unable to do so. Those whose lives are in the flesh

What Does The Bible Say About Faith?

What Is The Substance Of Faith?

In the New Testament, the words "believe" or "faith" imply complete trust, reliance or confidence with respect to God and His teachings.
Luke 8:50 - "But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole." (KJV)

Faith is not just a mental thought, but a belief without doubt or fear as we find in Mark 11:23-24 - "For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye s

What Does The Bible Say About Child Abuse?

First of all, we must understand the difference between the proper discipline of children and at just what point that "discipline" becomes "abuse".

There are many people who think that spanking a child is "child abuse", but in some cases the real abuse comes when we don't spank if a child needs correction. Our society has coined a new term known as "corporal punishment", but when I was a kid, it was just a limb off a peach tree in the back yard. By the way, I always needed it.

The Bible endorses the spanking of children

Proverbs 29:15 - "The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself brings shame to his mother."(ESV)

The Bible does set limits on spanking

Proverbs 19:18 - "Discipline your son while there is hope, but do not (indulge y

Read The Bible In A Year

If you would like to read the entire Bible in a year, it will take a little discipline and some planning.  Actually, this unique experience only requires the reading of about three chapters per day.  The link below to Bible.com outlines a monthly calendar of Bible chapters to read and  offers the Bible in several translations, in English and Spanish.  Good luck on your plan to read the entire Bible and hopefully you will be a better person for choosing to do it.

What Does The Bible Say Is Wrong Today?

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. ~2 Chronicles 7:14~

Thanks Raven. Now I'm having problems with blog posts. Evidently the program thinks I have reached by limit and I cannot post to the blog.

Oh, beautiful! This zone looks GREAT now! I was just going to write a comment on the bugs forum about the overlap, but now it's fixed.

Hi Tina, I can't see the overlap, but I'll believe it's there. Since we've gone to the three column layout maybe that fixed the problem. If you would let me know how it looks now I will appreciate it. Thanks for stopping by.

Very nicely done, Ken. I don't like to sound like an echo, but I agree with Raven across the board. Your approach is very straightforward and inviting. I am also having trouble reading everything due to an overlap of column 2 into column 3.

Hi Raven, I use Explorer and the site looks fine, it may look totally different on Firefox. All people have "faith" in some form or fashion. I, by choice, am of the Christian faith, but I try not to wear it on my sleeve. I just don't lecture about the Bible or try to condemn other people, that's just not my job.

This is a good, relevant collection of info and images. Unfortunately (and this may be a browser specific problem, I don't know), there is some distracting overlap between zone blocks. Items in the second column from the left are overlapping the items in the column to the right of it and making them hard to read. You might want to report this as a "bug". Otherwise, this is a very well-laid out zone. I like how you approach the Bible from an "everyday life" angle rather than a scholarly one. People wanting to learn more about Christianity will find this a useful place to start.
